intro to rules!
welcome to city is at war! this is an au post-potter/next generation (whichever have you) roleplaying site, and we hope that you find everything to your liking!
the rules here are generally the same as most literate-to-advanced roleplaying sites. the rules of literacy should be drilled into your head by now, however, we will drill them in a little further a little bit later on in this rules page (see: roleplaying rules!)
these rules are divided into sections: account rules!, applying rules!, roleplaying rules!, and general rules! please read each section, and i apologize for the length - we're just covering all of our bases to guarentee that everyone is happy here at city is at war!
account rules!
when making an account, we would very much prefer that you make the account some variation of your character's name. here are a few examples:
this just keeps things neat and organized for the admins when we are trying to organize things or look for your account.
we would rather you not use your own name, though if you insist, that is alright as well, as we will still be able to find your account easily. however, something like 'sxebayb123' is what we would consider a no-no. so, please, do not make your account name that is in any way, shape, or form like that. it will make us sad. ]:
also, after you have been accepted, you may change your display name to your character's first and last name. [:
applying rules!
as per usual with literate/advanced roleplaying sites, this site has an application that all soon-to-be-members must fill out. this application has all of the categories listed that you, the hopeful soon-to-be, must fill out. this is so we can get a feel for the character, your writing style, and so on.
however, the application must meet the expectations set down. next to each section it will tell you how much information is needed, and that is a minimum - you are not permitted to have any less, but feel free to give us more! the more the better, after all. surprise us - we like surprises :3
unfortuately, some of the applications may be declined. if this is the case, don't fret! we will send you an in-depth pm as to why you were rejected, and suggestions on how to get your application on the right track. you can apply again as soon as you feel your application is ready for re-evaluation.
please do not read any of the applications that are under the accepted category. many of them are re-used from when we had first opened the site, and are held to different standards and have different application forms.
two applications are tagged for you to read through - my own, kalypso malfoy, and amy's, rose weasley. more may be tagged and added as time goes on. :3
roleplaying rules!
after you are accepted, you may post wherever it is that you want on the site. there are a multitude of boards and locations for you to choose from, as well as slightly-in-character areas for you to post a journal for your character and plot relationships with other characters!
however, we do have expectations. we ask that each response be a minimum of three-paragraphs long (a paragraph being five or more sentences). we understand writer's block, but feel that this is an acceptable minimum. if you cannot meet this standard, then you may want to put the roleplay on hold until you are capable of squeezing out that much. hiatuses are more than allowed - we fully understand how it feels to be unable to write, and we will not punish you for wanting to take a break until you are able to.
also, this site is that of the mature variety. there will be many mature subjects on this site - drug use, violence, alcohol use, sex, etc. however, warnings must be posted if the maturity level goes beyond anything PG-13 - we don't someone who may be uncomfortable reading something to that magnitude stumbling upon it upon accident. this warning may be a simple [M] or something of the sort in the title, or there may be an in-depth one before your introduction.
we accept characters of all genders, shapes, sizes, races, orientations, and whatever else you can think of here. while characters are perfectly permitted to have their biases, we hope that our roleplayers will leave theirs at the door. we are a friendly community here at city is at war.
while we accept all types of characters, we would like to keep the mythologial creature count to a low. only canon characters with tainted blood on the canon list may consider having this type of background. however, we will not allow too many of these on the site as they are very, very rare.
closed topics are perfectly permitted - if you would only like to have one person in your roleplay, please tag them in the title or somewhere in your first post. if they are open topics, you may acknowledge this or simply leave it, as an untagged topic is considered open.
general rules!
as mentioned earlier, we accept characters of all type. the same obviously goes for the roleplayer. we ask that any roleplayers that have any sort of bias to please, keep them to yourselves. if we find that there are any type of harsh comments made about a certain group of people, you only get one warning and, depending on how serious, you may be temporarily suspended from the site. if we find that it is continuous, you will be banned.
we ask that you please be active! this is a revival of our site, and we are more than determined to be sure that this stays open. we will have random activity checks, and if a member does not post within the expected time frame, their account will be deleted. however, we will not delete their threads or applications - we will move them to the grave yard, so that the person can retrieve them if they decide to return and attempt to be active once more.
we sincerely hope that you plan on applying and that, if you choose to do so and are accepted, that you enjoy your time here on city is at war!
if you have any questions, please either send a pm to myself, rachael or to my co-admin, amy
