History; Charlus Prewett was born to Ignatius Prewett (named after his father) and Daphne Prewett, nee Greengrass. Their pureblood heritage cemented a lifetime full of wealth, privilege and discrimination. Even though the Dark Lord had fallen years ago many people were still weary of the pureblood families who, like Ignatius and his wife, were known supporters.
For a good majority of Char’s early life, he was locked up on a large estate in Southern Britain with his two older brothers and his sister, who was born only a year after him. His father was absent for the most part, clearing up any hint that he had ever been involved with the Death Eaters. It was only on luck alone that he had missed the War of Hogwarts. His mother, too, had been supportive of the pureblood revolution, but she was even more anal about clearing her name. After her and Ignatius divorced she flaunted her divorce eagerly. Rey had been too young at the time to understand why their parents had been splitting up. Char’s older brothers didn’t believe in sheltering or coddling him so they sat him down and told him the truth. And the truth was, their mom didn’t see it as a good thing to be around her family any longer.
Charlus didn’t really care. Sure, he imagined it would be nice to have a mom around, but hey, she should get to do whatever she wanted, right? Rey took it hard, though. Especially when Char, the youngest of the three elder Prewett sons, received his letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Char had been excited about leaving home, ready to get out of the dull mansion he lived in and make friends and do all the kinds of stuff his brothers bragged about. And though both their parents had been sorted in Slytherin thus far, their sons proved different results. Charlus was the second Prewett to be sorted into Gryffindor. It was a close call. With his ambition and sometimes self-satisfying ways, he could have easily been a Slytherin. But back then, before girls and sports, really, they weren’t such prominent traits. All Charlus knew then was that he wanted to prove himself.
In his third year Char became friends with Sam Liddell, another Gryffindor boy, through quidditch. He was another addition to a long list of friends, good and casual, Charlus had. He dated around a little (nothing like his sister, if you could even call that dating) and ended up on the arm of the beautiful Fiona Dolohov in fifth year. She was exactly his type- small with dark hair and pretty eyes- but they found they were better off friends. All the same, she was his first, and thanks to her, he was even more enthuistatic about, uh, girls in general.
After joining the Gyrffindor Quidditch team in fourth year, Charlus ended up focusing more on the sport and other competitive activites rather than schoolwork. He was a great chaser with his long fingers but his height was a definite disadvantage. His laid back attitude prevented him from becoming captain, but it was alright, since he was recruited into Defaeco around the same time and needed the spare time for meetings.
Appearance; First thing you notice about Charlus is that he is freakishly tall. At 6 foot 3 he is all long limbs and firm muscle. His skin keeps a golden tone through-out the year, not faltering even in the winter. The height is interesting but detrimental to his Quidditch career- most players are of average height or smaller. But he’s fit enough and trains hard enough to make up for it.
That said, if you happen to be of a taller height or have no problem with craning your neck to the point of discomfort, you can see Char is a handsome guy. Mainly thin features with a hard jaw and dark brown eyes that border on black. His most complimented feature is his smile. It’s wide, bright, warm, and shows the trademark Prewett dimples all his siblings seemed to inherit. His eyes can widen and make him resemble, as most people have put it, a puppy, which sounds kind of stupid to him but isn’t exactly an insult anyway.
His hair is a dark to light brown, depending on the season and the coloring. It goes a bit past his ears, curling a bit at the ends, sometimes getting into his face while he’s doing schoolwork (another excuse as to why to not do his work). He rarely toys with it, deciding it looked fine the way it was, and what kind of guy styles their hair, anyway?
Normally he stays in uniform but outside of school or after classes he dresses casually, with t-shirts or button downs, jeans, and trainers. He’s not big on jewelry though he has a tangle of washed out bracelets from a trip to the Bahamas one year. Another out of place piece of body jewelry was a tongue-ring. See, Rey is friends with this weirdass kid in her house, and he dared him to get one. Obviously Char couldn’t refuse…but he doesn’t put it to much use. It’s probably closed by now, he’s figured.
Personality; Charlus, like most of his family, is a friendly, outgoing person. He can talk to any stranger like he’s known them his whole life. He doesn’t have a shy bone in his body, though that isn’t to say he is over-eagerly. Despite being compared to a puppy dog on many occasions by girls at school and his own sister, he didn’t try and force himself on anyone. There were exceptions though- if he needed help or he felt like annoying someone. As a result of his upbeat attitude and vast connections (pureblood Defaeco in Gryffindor- yeah, you got around) he had a lot of friends and almost everyone knew him.
Besides his friendly attitude he is also fairly laid back. At least when he isn’t being a competitive son of a bitch. Charlus has a crazy urge to win at everything he tries his hand at, whether this is Quidditch or winning over a girl, or even scoring well on a test. He’s certain his brothers rubbed off on him. With that many siblings and other things going on in the strange world of wizarding he had to vye for his father’s attention, which meant outshining everyone. He isn’t a sore loser though- that’s where the laid-back persona kicks in. After a loss he shrugs it off, showers, and preps himself for the next day.
Overall, Char has a great sense of humor and is a goofy kid. He likes to kid around, most of his jokes intentionally bad just for a cheap laugh. When he’s not joking around with friends or playing Quidditch, he usually just lays around and attempts to study. Truth is, he is lazy when it comes to schoolwork. They didn’t put him in Ravenclaw for a reason. He’s not very bright but with a wide grin and easy charm he figures he doesn’t really need smarts. Everything pertaining to education is deathly boring, anyway. Char is pretty sure he has better things to do.
Despite an ego roughly the size of the Pacific Ocean, Char isn’t arrogant. Most people would assume he’s not very nice with his heritage and some of the company he keeps, but it’s not the truth. When Char comes to care about someone he looks out for them and does whatever he can to help them unless it conflicts with his own priorities. Over the years he grew to be more self-serving than he initially recognized. Friends and family are important, but to himself, Char comes first, and that’s just the way it is.
Getting on his bad side is a horrible idea. It’s very difficult to rub Char the wrong way but when you do his temper is fearsome. He’s quick to snap and can become violent if he’s that upset. He hasn’t managed to get into too many fights though. Most involve his sister- not because people talk but the guys who think its okay to rough her up a bit when they hang out. It may seem hypocritical since he can be an ass on occasion and is himself violent but he is rarely the person to provoke the fighting.
Charlus is a flirt like most boys his age but hasn’t yet dated anyone seriously. Fiona was the closest he got which is probably a good sign since they’re still great friends. Most girls seem to like him and Char likes most girls, but for now dating is on the back burner, especially considering the fact that he’ll most likely be arranged soon…
