History; Anyone with half a brain knows of the trend between Pureblood families and pride. The Holbrook family has never been an acception to this trend.
Raleigh Holbrook and Josephine Asher were arranged to be married when Raleigh was eighteen and Josephine, seventeen- just as many Defaeco children are being arranged in more recent times, although it was less common back then. The pair was always happy enough with their marriage, once they got past the fact that it was forced. They shared many of the same ideals- especially the Pureblood superiority complex. Yes, they were happy. Truth be told, however, the wealthy couple was never in love.
Two years into their marriage, the young Holbrooks were... blessed by their first son, Harper Reuben Holbrook. Not only did Harper grow to look like the spitting image of his father- sandy blonde hair, dark eyes, and a few freckles- but he also shared Raleigh's harsh sense of pride. He was perfect. Their second child, Adrienna May, was born three years later, and was received with nearly the same amount of enthusiasm as her older brother. The third and final child was born when Harper was already in his second year of school, and Adrienna was almost nine years old. His name was Jameson Kearney Holbrook- Jamie.
By the time he began his years at Hogwarts, Jamie's siblings had long graduated. He had large shoes to fill- his siblings had been infamous in other houses and popular in their own for their reputations as pride-driven, cruel at times, Slytherins. And, as he would repeatedly do in the future, Jamie put on a spectacular display of dissapointment from the very beginning, cast by a ragged hat into Ravenclaw instead of the same house as many previous generations of Holbrooks.
It didn't take long for Jamie to grow farther and farther apart from his family, though still maintaining a good relationship with most of them. He saw them as what they might have actually been- arrogant, spiteful, and even unintelligent. He never tried to actually defy them, preferring the passive way of dealing with his family. He rejected their ideals silently, playing along when need be. He knew how to act around certain people, and how not to- developing two different personalities. In truth though, he still fails to see the benefit of wealth over morals.
Now, as the coming war approaches, Jamie's attempts to cast off his parent's ideals are getting even harder. While he might have strived to stay neutral, he knows that, for once, he doesn't have a choice. Rebellion isn't an option. Jameson Kearney Holbrook's fate hangs in the hands of the Defaeco- always grudgingly.
Appearance;Jamie is the odd ball of his family. He's the only of the three children to recieve primarily his mother's looks. He has brown eyes, which are usually well below his brown bangs. His hairstyle is influenced by so-called "skater" styles, flippy near the ends, and almost chinlength. His smile is more often than not close-lipped, because although there isn't anything particularly wrong with them, he has an intense dislike for his mother's- and therefore his- teeth.
When he's not wearing the school uniform, shopping for Jamie is easy. His average-sized, 5'11'' frame isn't hard to fit. A baseball cap or two. Baggy jeans. Maybe a belt. A few button down shirts. And lots and lots of tshirts. And there you have it: the complex wardrobe of Jamie Holbrook.
Personality; There was most certainly a reason that The Sorting Hat didn't call out "Slytherin" after "Holbrook, Jameson" six years ago.
Jameson definitely gets better grades than most of his family ever did. However, he still questions why he's in Ravenclaw- they're a little above average, at most. The true reason? Book smarts are one thing, but logic is a whole new one. And Jamie has an uncanny amount of the former.
However, he doesn't act like he has much logic. He could act like what might be expected of someone in his house, but instead acts just as immature as any sixth year. It's a rare thing for anyone to actually notice how smart he can be. The only people that would know are his parents and his friends- of whom, frankly, there are few.
Obviously, he's mostly given up on pureblood pride. As a matter of fact, he's given up on almost all kinds of pride. The only thing he has to be proud of, as far as he's concerned, are rising a little above the standard. And while all of this may make him seem stiff, Jamie is easy enough to get along with. He knows how to act around other people. And as far as friendship goes? It's definitely not something he'd ever take for granted.
