History; As with most purebloods, young Toby was born into a very privileged lifestyle. He, along with his older sister and younger brother, grew up with the best of the best around him. His crib was a French antique, his baby blanket was Egyptian cotton, and his entire room was designed by the most in-demand designer of that time. Daphne spared no expense for her son, because he was her son. They'd had a daughter first, and because old ideals were slowly but surely rising to the surface, it would have behooved them to have a son. When they finally did, Daphne doted on him like he was a prince. And to her, she was.
In spite of his stuffy upbringing, Toby had always had an air of rebellion about him. He absolutely loved everything around him, but he also had a knack for trouble--a knack that often got him into trouble. He was often getting lost, or "exploring" as he called it. When his brother was old, however, it slowed. His brother was precisely what any pureblood boy should be, after all. Since Toby had no one to share his adventures with (as he had planned to when the baby had come), he toned it down a bit to "set an example".
His father was often gone when he was younger. Theodore Nott had always been the quiet type, and never did interact with his children too much--except, of course, when it was time for discipline. He never abused his children. He thought it was quite weak. But he did do the discipline in the family, and therefore garnered a sort of fear from his three children, the same fear one may feel for their own personal deity. They respected him, they loved him, and they knew what would happen if they didn't. As a result of him being gone so often, Toby never got the know his father except in the way he did. After a few failed attempts at getting attention, Toby decided to no longer expect affection. He got plenty from his mother, anyway.
When finally Hogwarts year came around, Toby could not have been more excited. His sister already going into year three, he'd heard so much about the school, and how wonderful it was. When he did finally arrive, he met up with some of the boys he'd grown up from the other pureblood families, and they soon became friends. Being sorted into Slytherin, Toby had a problem with his image for a while. He was not like every other Slytherin--he wasn't mean, or heartless, and he didn't play the pureblood card at every chance. So Toby researched the Slytherin house, and found that this was not what Slytherin stood for. Slytherin stood for ambition, and he came to the conclusion that this is why he was placed in Slytherin.
He'd heard all about the new pureblood uprising, and how much he should be involved in it. He will be, for the sake of his family, and only them. He'd seen how the world treated them, just because their parents allied themselves with the Dark Lord. He'd had enough of being treated worse than the Weasleys. It was time for a new age, to better their way of life--but maybe not to put down the other side.
Appearance; Toby is not unattractive, nor is he attractive. He is in fact in the middle. Sure, he's had his share of ladies, but he doesn't pride himself on the number of girls who want to "shag" him. His dresses down quite a lot, and it's difficult to get him into something "fancy"--something that frustrates him to no end. When not in his uniform, he is usually dressed in a t-shirt (more often of the colors of his Quidditch team, the Falmouth Falcons), and a pair of jeans. His clothing style has and probably always will match his lifestyle; he is laid-back.
He is an average gentleman. His face is slightly pudgy, and always has a slightly unshaven look. His hair, dark brown, is sloppy and usually never done "properly, like your brother's" as his mother often says. His eyes match his hair perfectly, and have a fun way about them. He has his family's features; his nose is a bit large, and his lips a bit small. He is muscular, of course, thanks to years of Quidditch playing, but he's not maybe as built as his female classmates come to expect from a pureblood. Does he really care, though? Not particularly. He comes to about 6'2", and average height for him.
Again, looks are not the be all and end all of Toby's life. A lot of his friends and classmates spend a lot of time on their looks, and he finds this silly and to tell the truth, a bit girly. Instead, he focusses on being him.
Personality; What is there to say about Toby? He's fun, he's caring, and he's energetic. Toby would rather make somebody's legs into jelly than use an Unforgiveable any day. As a result, he has a hard time being serious, and he has a small feeling that not a lot of his friends find him as any sort of a threat. And he isn't! At least, not unless someone or something he loves is under some sort of a threat. He'd defend those he cared for to the death. His sister often joked that because of this fact, he was a born Gryffindor. However, his ambition and his ability to stop over any person he does not care for trumps his loyalty. Aside from those rare moments where he does put it all out on the line, he is an incredibly fun character. There's never any sort of a dull moment around him.
Toby is also a very strong person, morally. While his own personal morals and values may not be considered by most people to be, well, moral, he sticks by them nonetheless. It's very difficult to change him--not even his own mother could change him growing up. Which I suppose makes Toby incredibly stubborn as well. If he has his mind on doing something (or not doing something), he's probably going to stick with it unless you give him a very good reason to change his mind.
